I stumbled upon this great new blog - The Burning Ear :: please do check it out...the Bike For Three post and the Antlers post both come from the Burning Ear. My bad, for not giving credit to TBE!
Enjoy!
Mazzy Star lead vocalist Hope Sandoval will release Through the Devil Slowly this coming September 15th. Sorry, it's not a new Mazzy Star record, although that is apparently not too far away either. This album, from her Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions side-project - which features My Bloody Valentine drummer Colm Ó Cíosóig.
Brendan Benson has put out 3 solid solo albums making a pretty good name for himself. However, he probably is better known for his contributions in The Raconteurs singing alongside Jack White. He is going to release his new album, My Old, Familiar Friend this August.
***Check out the track “A Whole Lot Better”. The guitars and Brendan’s adolescent ache of a voice come together to remind you of that girl (or boy) who first flustered your insides so badly!
This is so freakin cool!! Click {{here}} for the coolness!!!!!!!!!!!!
When The Devil's Loose will be released on Fat Possum September First. Check out the tune "When The Devil's Loose" :: {{here}}

In Flagranti have just released their new album 'Brash & Vulgar'. It mutates through clubland taking in sex, disco, dirt, distortion & just a little humour (Not necessarily in that order). “Pick A Trick” is my new fave song!! Download {{here}}
*We are all about the love connection…you and In Flagranti – sitting in a tree!
I love this band forever. Very cool doc. * trailer {{here}}
A travelogue video if you will...
I can’t say I like the band name…The Henry Clay People!?!?! But, I do dig their maturity, their fun-loving, rough-around-the-edges, old school rock n roll. The band comes from LA and they really made a nice first impression w/ the track “Something In The Water”. SOUNDS LIKE: Pavement frontman Steve Malkmus, who borrows the shoes of The Replacements or The Ramones.

San Francisco's Sleepy Sun have a real flair for strangeness. This sextet's atmospheric pysch-freakout rides the wave of critical acclaim directed at peers like Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes. The tracks are filled with folkie harmonies but provides many twists and turns…example, the 7-1/2 minute "New Age," which features one shredding solo at the 2-1/2 minute mark, and a second freakout following four minutes later. SOUNDS LIKE: …if Fleet Foxes used their harmonies for purposes of evil.

Snoopy & Linus have a new favorite act, and so do you: Miike Snow. If you need any persuading, simply check out the lead single, Animal. There are plenty of ‘dope’ remixes out there of this track. The Swedish trio are dropping their self-titled debut album on June 9th. SOUNDS LIKE: Pulses of sound laid on top of fuzzy clinks and clanks, a rollicking piano, matched by soulful & sublime vocals.
The first release of the Jayhawks reissue project will be Music From The North Country: The Jayhawks Anthology a two-disc compilation of Jayhawks album songs and rarities due out July 7th. myspace

They're NME cover stars and chart-topping artists at home in Britain and they're lined up to be ‘the breakthrough band’, if only because they sound like the second coming of The Killers' first record. Some may say that their retro-sounding '80s synth sound's become a cliché, but those people aren't the fans who are dancing around in their bedrooms or who were bouncing up and down in pure bliss at Coachella!

The Big Star box set is definitely a "go" and is slated for a Sept. 15 release from Rhino. Four discs, tons of rarities, "best ever" live recordings, and more. Wow!!!
Live video :: “Ballad Of El Goodo”
Like a true American treasure, French Kicks cuts their own groove while music fans continue to fall under their whispered spell.
Check out the new video, it’s a good one!!
…romantic powerhouse…a beautiful piece of work…While this is prodigiously modern music, the cleverness of its coordination and restraint of delivery makes it seem of a porous and playful past, leaving the listener lying on a hardwood floor in the 60s, reading Kerouac and smoking Lucky Strikes. Veckamist is as absolutely enchanting as it is thoroughly impressive. Download "Cheerleader" {{here}}.
What I’ve heard of Roman Candle’s upcoming third full-length Oh Tall Tree In The Ear (released May 12) sounds excellent!! Download “Earlyl Aubade” {{here}}

Plain and simple, Sixto Diaz Rodriguez spits the cold facts. He drops acute humanistic observations gleamed from a Detroit born and bred existence. And though this talented singer-songwriter's primary recorded output reaches back to the late sixties and early seventies, its enduring legacy has manifested itself in the most unexpected, far reaching, and mind-blowing of ways. SOUNDS LIKE: It is one of those rare lost albums that turns out to be a genuine classic", and his lyrics are as relevant now as they were back in the 70's. *Sugarman* Mp3

Amazing Baby, are a promising new foursome out of Brooklyn. “Head Dress” is proving to be my favorite so far—a spaced out guitar jam, at times reminding me of early 70’s Bowie. It features a twisty electric guitar chorus, fuzzed out effects pedals, and ethereal, almost tender vocals.
SOUNDS LIKE: Glammy psychedelia. Think MGMT meets The Flaming Lips.

Sebastien Grainger, former Death From Above 1979 singer/drummer is currently on tour with his supporting band The Mountains. And, he just released a new ep, check it out… ”Who Do We Care For” is currently in heavy rotation!! SOUNDS LIKE: "When Grainger goes by his given name, it means he's all about two things and two things only: the rock, and the roll."
Josh Ritter news!!

Telekinesis! is the project of Michael Benjamin Lerner. His self-titled debut is produced by Chris Walla (Death Cab For Cutie, The Decemberists, Tegan And Sara). The two decided to spend only one day per song in the studio to capture a sense of spontaneity. The result still sounds beautifully polished, and Michael surrenders indie pop-rock tunes like he's been doing it for decades. Look out A.C. Newman! Catchy hooks, foot-tapping melodies and lyrics with high sing-a-long-ability make this a debut to be reckoned with. Stream the record {{here}}
